The test will be available in a number of formats ranging from traditional “pen and paper” type tests to computer-based delivery. According to the British Council, the flexibility of the test means it can be delivered in many locations worldwide.

Alongside listening, speaking, reading and writing components, Aptis will also offer core grammar and vocabulary components. It can be used to gauge someone’s overall English ability or just measure one specific skill (i.e. listening). It is being promoted as a quick and convenient way for companies and other organizations to establish which employees might need additional English language training. It also provides an affordable method of testing the language skills of prospective employees.
