News: UK Immigration Using IELTS

The United Kingdom’s immigration services are now using the IELTS test to determine potential immigrants’ English language capabilities. The change, which was introduced at the end of February, was implemented by the United Kingdom’s Home Office, and will impact all non-EU nationals looking to live and work in the United Kingdom. Potential immigrants are now put into 5 “tiers”, with tier 1 representing a “highly skilled” category including doctors, scientists and entrepreneurs. Tier 1 applicants must achieve an IELTS score of 6.5 as proof of English language capability.  More details can be found on the
